Email sent to Mayor Joe Mazzari 5/29/2023 from Pat Crow to request a Resolution of Support and the acknowledgement of the Villages role in the positioning of the Danville Public Library:

“Good Memorial Day afternoon Mayor Joe, Hope you have had a great holiday weekend.  It was a great parade and ceremony at the park today.

I spoke at length with John Chidester on the phone last week. After reviewing the documents that he has, it appears as though library agreement has not been updated since 1965, which agrees with Laurie’s assessment.

Based on our conversation, it appears as though library does not have preference one location versus another, as long as wherever the library is located meets necessary code requirements in regard to public access.  I think the essence of the conversation was wherever the village community places our library, and it is rent free location, the Public Library of Mount Vernon & Knox County board will staff, stock, and program the operation. Bottom line – it’s up to us as a community to locate the library.

Based on that we (DHA) would like to officially request the Danville Village Council pass a resolution supporting the move of the Danville Public Library to the Danville Intermediate School Building on the necessary condition(s) – e.g. That the Danville Heritage Association (DHA) is able to obtain a 20 year lease and find the funds and resources necessary to renovate the building and bring it up to code compliance and change of use requirements, etc.  If possible, we would like to have this before 6/19/2023 when the BOE is scheduled to make a decision as to the demolition of the building.  This resolution would be incredibly helpful.”

At the 6/5/2023 Village Council Meeting, the following Village of Danville Resolution 2023-10 was unanimously passed by Village Council:
