Completed Community Survey – 87% of those responding (161) did NOT want to demolish the building for a parking lot.

Organization and Progress

1.    Have incorporated as The Danville Heritage Association, Inc.

2.    Have incorporated Trade Name – Danville Heritage Association.

3.    Have received our IRS 501(c)3 determination letter.

4.    Had a structural engineer assess the condition of the property, report was good.

5.    Had a cursory asbestos inspection, report was good (apparent Remediation completed est.1998)

6.    Had an architect prepare a code and change of use analysis.

7.    Have been to multiple School Board meetings.

8.    Prepared model “lease” and presented to School Board President 4/19/2023

9. When a lease option was rejected by the Danville Board, DHA proposed using a similar shared use model permitted by the Ohio Revised Code Section, as permitted in Ohio Revised Code Section 3313.76** that allows the school district to use all or part of the Danville Intermediate School Building as a community “social center(s) for the entertainment and education of the people”. The Danville School Board ignored the proposal saying that they had already decided not to lease the building.

In September 2024, the Danville School Board, in a motion proposed by school superintendent Jason Snively, voted 3 to 2 to demolish the building.
